The Wilmer Grist Mill Mural

We are currently painting a 4’ x 12’ mural of the Wilmer Gristmill circa 1697.  Now known as Radcliffe Mill, the milling complex was an important part of the agricultural economy of the Upper Eastern Shore for 200 years.

Working with a group of 70 children with learning differences we will paint the imagery as we explore the landscape of Radcliffe Creek, a tributary of the Upper Chester River that runs next to the school where the program takes place.

This project was created as part of our visiting artist program which is designed to teach cultural literacy of the Tidewater area in classrooms across the region.  This mural will be installed on the Wayne Gilchrest Rail Trail in Chestertown, MD in 2024.
