The Choptank Tolomato Legacy Project
Kent Narrows Shantytown Mural
We are currently planning a 6’ x 32’ mural featuring the vanished Kent Narrows Shantytown community, an African American neighborhood of some 200 dwellings and 1000 inhabitants which once existed along the waterfront from 1930 through 1990. The mural is being painted by residents of the Queen Anne’s County at local events and by members of the Crossroads Community, a behavioral mental health organization based in Centreville. The mural will be installed at the Park and Ride lot beneath the Route 50 / 301 Bridge in 2025.
